The 2000 census counted about 33,000 people in Palm Coast. Current estimates sit past 110,000. Flagler County was among the fastest-growing in Florida after 2020. You can feel it at 5 p.m. on Palm Coast Parkway and in the time it takes to get a dermatology appointment.
You cannot feel it on Flagler Beach, which still refuses a high-rise skyline, or in the original lettered sections, which still look like a 1970s planned city filling in rather than a boomtown tearing down.
That’s the local bargain: growth on the inland grid, restraint on A1A, and a civic identity that’s still being written. If you want Miami energy, this is the wrong exit. If you want a place that is bigger than it looks and smaller than it is, you’re in the right county.
